Long Course Details

Mixed surfaces of gravel, hard-pack dirt with a few chunky rock sections and some unavoidable pavement. The course will take you out hwy 215 to Morgan Mt. Road for a steady climb up through the pine forest surrounding Spy Rock Scenic Overlook / spur trail (mile 6). From there it’s on to Hanging Rock overlook (mile 10.5 – 30 second hike from road) – so good it overlooks the overlook on hwy23! You’ll eventually arrive at HWY 23 and turn north to St. Paul (mile 20) for resupply at Ahart’s or Dollar General.

From St. Paul you’ll turn south on a beautiful stretch of rollers climbing up to Kilgore Gap then on to the wild descent of Cadillac hill where you’ll lose most of the 1500ft of elevation back to the valley floor and the Lick Branch Aid station. From there you’ll do the final climb up to the Mule Farm for great overlooks then a long winding descent down to Oark AR. Smooth sailing for 10 cushy miles on beautiful hwy 215 along the Mulberry river back to Byrd’s.

You’ll have re-supply at Ahart’s – mile 20, Aid Station – mile 33 and again at the Oark General Store / mile 50.

Note: Long Course CUT OFF Time – You MUST average at least 10mph for the day – If you do not arrive at mile 33 Aid Station by 1PM you will be asked to divert to the short course.
