Short Course Details

Mixed surfaces of gravel, hard-pack dirt with a few chunky rock sections and some unavoidable pavement. The course will take you out hwy 215 to Morgan Mt. Road for a steady climb up through the pine forest surrounding Spy Rock Scenic Overlook / spur trail (mile 6). From there it’s on to Hanging Rock overlook (mile 10.5 – 30 second hike from road) – so good it overlooks the overlook! (on hwy23). You’ll eventually arrive at HWY 23 and turn north to St. Paul (mile 20) for resupply at Ahart’s or Dollar General.

From St. Paul you’ll turn south on a beautiful stretch of rollers climbing up to Kilgore Gap then on to the wild descent of Cadillac hill where you’ll lose most of the 1500ft of elevation back to the valley floor and the Lick Branch Aid station. You’ll continue south crossing the Little Mulberry River then follow hwy 215 for 4 miles of smooth pavement along the Mulberry River back to Byrd’s.

You’ll have re-supply at Ahart’s – mile 20 and at the Aid Station – mile 33
